The Cutest New Year’s Parade

Start New Year’s Eve off by partaking in Key West’s Annual Dachshund Walk! Known as “the world’s shortest parade,” hundreds of Doxins of all breeds, dressed in adorable costumes, patter down the streets of Key West. This parade is for families and dog lovers of all ages, and a unique event that you can’t miss. The parade begins at 12 PM and starts at the Monroe County Courthouse.

Restaurants to Ring in the New Year

The cuisine of Key West is great any day, and New Year’s Eve is no exception. When wanting to try out some delicious dishes right in the center of celebrations, visit El Meson de Pepe, offering the best Cuban food on the island. Additionally, you can visit Michael’s for a juicy steak or Louie’s Backyard for zesty Caribbean. Other restaurants include:

  • Red Fish Blue Fish
  • Rooftop Café
  • Irish Kevin’s Bar
  • Caroline’s Café
  • Two Friend’s Patio Restaurant
  • Sloppy Joe’s Bar
  • And More

Not Your Average Ball Drop

At the stroke of midnight, Key West has more than a basic ball drop. Starting at Schooner Warf, you can witness a pirate wench dropped (carefully) from the mast of a 100 ft schooner. Next, local drag queen Sushi is dropped from a balcony at Bourbon Street Pub in a giant stiletto. And finally, one of the biggest drops of the night happens at Sloppy Joe’s, where an evening of festivities is capped off by a giant conch shell drop.

The Complete Key West Experience

After we’ve finally entered 2019, your vacation doesn’t have to end there! If you want the full “Florida Keys Experience,” your trip isn’t complete without fishing off the coast. And when you need the best charter boats to get you the biggest catches, look no further than Captain Moe’s Lucky Fleet.

At Captain Moe’s, you get a truly unique fishing experience, unlike anything else Key West has to offer. Try your hand at shark fishing or cast a line out into the backcountry. Whatever your fishing preference may be, Captain Moe’s Lucky Fleet will ensure you have the best time.
